Saturday morning, and I got nothing to do
Got no cigarettes to smoke, got no bubblegum to chew
But the sun is shining and the clouds got nowhere to hide
I think I'll go and take a walk outside
I'm busy going nowhere, and it doesn't sound like fun
But it is when you try it, puttin' trouble on the run
Just like me, just doing nothing, and I'm making it a thing
A trend that I call aimless wandering
I'll reach my fingers up unto the breezy air
And catch the yellow ribbon to hold up flowers in her hair
I wish that I could visualize the stories we've been told
Like Peter Pan I'm afraid of growing old
Here we go a-trying to get away from it all
If someone asks me for a journey I will just ignore the call
Everybody's doing something, but for me no pain, no gain
But suddenly I sensed oncoming rain
So I watched the storm clouds gather and the sky turned dark and grey
And I was puzzled, cause my weather app said it wouldn't turn out this way
But then again, I have no Wi-Fi, so I have to improvise
A little rainfall won't spoil my exercise
I just don't care of where I even plan to go
If you try and ask to join me, the answer will be no
So please don't bother following me, cause it's you that will you be lost
And that alone is a really terrible cost
Walkin' past these faces that I'll never see again
If someone has a start, I'll counter with the mighty end
Crossing on the DON'T WALK light is none of my concern
Cause I have no desire to hug or to learn
Sometimes the smell is crappy and sometimes the smell is sweet
Wherever I go, I'm always in for a very special treat
Cause I don't find it annoying, and that's just how life must go
Like in Greenwich Village you gotta jelly roll
If this old landscape starts to smell and look like shit
I'll just wash the brush and then I'll beat the devil out of it
If that is not a metaphor, then I don't know what is
And for many years nobody beat the Wiz
The road keeps going forward, there is no turning back
I'll just go wherever I want to and see where the action's at
I'm not talking bout the nightclubs, not lookin for the Guggenheim
Cause the only thing I desire is a good time
I'm busy going nowhere, and it doesn't sound like fun
But it is when you try it, puttin' trouble on the run
Just like me, just doing nothing, and I'm making it a thing
A trend that I call aimless wandering
Times Square on the west side, Grand Central on the east
And the Empire State Building where beauty killed the beast
I've been to all those landmarks, I've eaten em to the core
But it's times like this that I feel like I want more
I just don't care of where I even plan to go
If you try and ask to join me, the answer will be no
Now go with someone else or you might be lost in Babylon
And that's all she wrote, we'd better be moving on.

Friends of a friend of a relative. Their music is great; little bit of everything thrown together. I am suddenly reminded of those old Lemony Snicket books; that and the early Woody Allen flicks. The Plastic E-Gulls
